Teeth Whitening Can Give You a Brighter, More Youthful Smile
Aesthetic, bright teeth can enliven your whole face and help you look years younger. Dr. Paul V. Archacki can help you achieve the smile of your dreams with teeth whitening at his Boynton Beach, FL, office. Using advanced Philips Zoom! technology, he can eliminate stubborn stains, whitening your teeth by several shades. We offer in-office whitening, as well as take-home treatments. During your initial consultation, Dr. Archacki will explain both options in depth, helping you choose the method that most closely matches your goals, health needs, and budget.
How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
Zoom! teeth whitening uses a specialized peroxide-based gel to remove dental stains. If you choose to undergo treatment in our office, Dr. Archacki or your hygienist will coat your teeth in this specially formatted gel. We will then use an advanced, safe light to activate the whitening ingredients, causing the oxygen molecules in the gel will travel through your teeth. As oxygen moves through your teeth, these molecules will break apart the chemical bonds between stains, leaving your smile noticeably whiter. To achieve the most dramatic effects, your practitioner will usually repeat this process three times in one appointment, with each bleaching cycle taking about fifteen minutes. In total, the treatment should take no more than an hour.
Take-home whitening uses a similar gel, although it has lower concentration of active ingredients. Dr. Archacki will give you a set of custom-made whitening trays. You will fill the trays with gel and wear them over your teeth for about 30 minutes a day. Just as it does during in-office treatment, the gel will set off an oxidation reaction to break apart stains. In most cases, the full treatment regimen will last about two weeks.
Is Teeth Whitening Right for You?
Teeth whitening is appropriate for almost all patients with minor to moderate extrinsic stains. Because it is gentle, and non-invasive, you can undergo whitening even if you have had past decay or gum disease. However, whitening cannot address intrinsic stains, found inside your teeth. If you have this type of discoloration, Dr. Archacki may recommend porcelain veneers or a similar cosmetic treatment.
Zoom! teeth whitening can lighten your smile by up to eight shades.
Some patients who suffer from dental sensitivity believe that they should not undergo whitening because it will intensify their discomfort. In reality, dentist-supervised whitening typically causes only minimal irritation, if any, even for highly sensitive individuals. If you struggle with sensitive teeth, Dr. Archacki can supervise the entire treatment and be sure that the active ingredients are not too strong for your comfort.
The Benefits of Teeth Whitening
Zoom! teeth whitening can lighten your smile by up to eight shades. In-office treatments can achieve these results in less than an hour, while take-home kits can provide similar effects in two weeks. With these results, your smile can be more noticeable, and it could look years younger. It will also brighten and rejuvenate your whole face. Like many patients, you may feel much more confident about your smile, and this could impact your overall quality of life.
