Custom-designed Dentures Can Restore Your Bite and Smile
If you are missing teeth, dentures can give you a full, functional smile that improves your overall appearance. Dr. Paul V. Archacki offers various types of dentures at his Boynton Beach, FL, office. He is a board-certified prosthodontist, or a specialist in restoring oral form and function, and is an excellent choice when you need a large scale restoration. Dr. Archacki completes much of his own lab work to ensure a realistic appearance and a natural fit for your removable or implant-supported dentures. Your denture can restore your ability to bite and chew, complete your smile, fill in your lips and cheeks, and give you a rejuvenated look.
Traditional Full and Partial Dentures
Traditional dentures are removable and come in two different sizes. A full denture will replace your entire top or bottom dental arch – or both. A partial will replace a large number of missing teeth. To stay fixed in your mouth, both types of dentures have a plastic base that will be a near-perfect match to the color of your gums. A partial denture can replace multiple missing teeth, and will also come with a small, carefully concealed metal clasp that will keep the prosthetic connected to your surrounding teeth. Typically, you will also use denture adhesive for additional stability.
The synthetic teeth themselves will be crafted from state-of-the-art materials, providing a realistic color and shine. With a significant amount of onsite lab work, Dr. Archacki can ensure a near-perfect fit. While you are in the office, he will also match the material to the natural shade of your teeth.
Implant-supported dentures also come in full and partial varieties. These restorations will connect to dental implants, which are surgically set in your jawbone. Dr. Archacki does not perform implant surgery, but he can determine your candidacy, refer you to a trusted surgeon, and oversee your entire procedure. In some cases, a periodontist will come into our office, so you can undergo your entire treatment in one convenient location.
The number of implants you need will depend on the size of your restoration. A partial denture will require two or more implant posts, while a full-arch restoration will require four or more. In many cases, we can provide All-on-4® dentures, which will reduce the impact to your jawbone and rely on only four implant posts.
After your implant surgery, you will need to allow your bone to heal around the implant posts for about four to six months. Once the implants have successfully integrated with your jaw, Dr. Archacki can attach your permanent restoration. He takes the same care with implant-supported dentures as he does with traditional prosthetics, and your denture will fit securely and look very realistic.
The Benefits of Dentures
Dentures can replace missing teeth and restore your appearance. With your complete smile, you can also experience an improved bite, and you will be able to enjoy a more varied range of foods. If you had a severely limited diet because of your missing teeth, your overall health may even improve. You can also speak more clearly and properly enunciate for more effective communication.
Our office is dedicated to providing customized treatment for each and every patient.
Implant-supported dentures provide further, life-changing benefits. Dental implants can more successfully restore your oral function because they will never slip out of place. As a result, you will not face any dietary restrictions. You can even enjoy notoriously tricky foods like whole fruits, steaks, and chewy bread. Your prosthetic can also look more realistic because it will rest right along your gums. You will not have to worry about large bases or metal clips. Finally, dental implants will send regenerative signals that stimulate your jawbone, preventing bone loss. In this way, they can preserve your lasting oral health and facial features.
